Adopt Me pets grow from Newborn to Full Grown. Neon pets use different names: Reborn is the first stage and Luminous is the last. If you’re making a Neon or Mega Neon, the final stage matters more than how full the age bar looks.
Read down either age column to see the order. Each row pairs a regular stage with its Neon equivalent, so Sunshine is the Neon equivalent of Post-Teen, not Full Grown.
| Stage | Regular pet | Neon pet | What comes next? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Newborn | Reborn | Keep completing pet needs. |
| 2 | Junior | Twinkle | More growth remains. |
| 3 | Pre-Teen | Sparkle | Still growing. |
| 4 | Teen | Flare | Two stage changes remain. |
| 5 | Post-Teen | Sunshine | Finish this stage. |
| 6 | Full Grown | Luminous | Ready for the matching cave recipe. |
These names are recorded in the Adopt Me Wiki’s Neon growth stages. The stage name is a better check than a quick glance at the bar. A pet can be nearly finished with Post-Teen and still be unable to join a Neon recipe.
Collect four matching regular pets at Full Grown. A Full Grown Cow and three Post-Teen Cows still need more raising.
Collect four matching Neons at Luminous. Three Luminous Neons and one Sunshine Neon aren’t ready yet.
For the actual combining steps, use our Neon Cave guide. This age chart is for checking your progress before you make the trip.
When you’re collecting pets for a project, keep separate notes for species, form and age. “Cow, regular, Full Grown” tells you much more than “old Cow.” It also helps you spot an offer that contains the right pet but the wrong form.
A fully raised pet can keep completing needs and build Friendship. A Friendship number doesn’t replace Full Grown or Luminous, and you don’t need to reach a special Friendship level before making a Neon.
The developer’s Friendship update notes explain that a completed Friendship level awards an Age-Up Potion. They also say Friendship levels reset when a pet is traded. If someone is offering a pet because of its Friendship number, don’t assume that number will stay with you after the trade.
Age and abilities are separate. FR means Fly Ride; NFR means Neon Fly Ride; MFR means Mega Neon Fly Ride. None of those labels tells you that a regular pet is Full Grown or that a Neon is Luminous.
A standard Age-Up Potion gives 30 tasks of age experience, according to the official item description. It adds progress rather than promising a whole age stage. How far it moves your pet depends on the growth still needed.
Before using a potion, check the pet you’ve equipped and decide which copy you’re finishing. If your goal is one Neon, spreading progress across unrelated species won’t move that four-pet project forward.
You can earn the standard potions while spending time with a fully aged pet through Friendship. The official notes describe these potions as non-tradeable and say they can’t be used on eggs or fully aged pets. Don’t trade a pet to someone simply because they promise to give you their potion later.
A pet’s rarity affects the amount of care it needs. Your starting stage, active bonuses, potions and the needs you complete also change the work left. A timer copied from somebody else’s setup won’t tell you when your own pet will finish.
For planning, count unfinished pets first. Write down each age and finish the copies closest to the required stage if you want a quick milestone. Then check the remaining group again instead of assuming all four progressed together.
If you’re swapping for an older copy, compare the same species and form. A regular Full Grown pet and a Reborn Neon solve different parts of a project. Check the trade window itself, rather than trusting a nickname such as “FG.”
