To make a Neon pet in Adopt Me, you need four pets of the same species, all at Full Grown. Take them to the Neon Cave and combine them into one pet. The part that catches people out is the age: Post-Teen still isn’t ready.
Don’t collect a spare pet just because its nickname matches. A nickname doesn’t change the species. Open the pet’s details and read its actual name and age.

The new Neon has its own growth stages, starting at Reborn. You haven’t lost the Neon effect because the age changed. If your next goal is a Mega Neon, this is the start of the next raising stage.
Can’t place a pet? Recheck its exact age, species and form. A Sunshine Neon isn’t a Full Grown regular pet, and a regular Post-Teen pet still needs more care. The community Neon record also lists exceptions among temporary or special pets, so check unusual pets before collecting four.
Yes. Uplift Games confirms that Fly and Ride transfer from the pets you combine. One Fly pet and a different Ride pet can give the finished Neon both abilities.
That means you don’t need to put both potions on every pet first. Check the abilities you already have before using another potion. If none of the four can Fly or Ride, making the Neon doesn’t add those abilities by itself.
| Pets used | Finished Neon |
|---|---|
| Four pets with no Fly or Ride | Neon, without Fly or Ride |
| One Ride pet, three with no abilities | Neon Ride |
| One Fly pet and one Ride pet among the four | Neon Fly Ride, often shortened to NFR |
A Mega Neon needs four matching Neons at Luminous, the final Neon age. If you start with regular pets, that’s sixteen matching pets in total: four groups of four. A Mega Neon cycles through colors, while a Neon has its species’ Neon glow.
Finish one group before mixing your pets around. A simple note with four slots for each group makes it easier to see whether you’re missing pets or just need to finish raising them. Our pet ages and Neon ages guide shows the full stage order.
Pick one species you actually like, then check what you already own. Three pets at Post-Teen and one at Newborn need a different amount of work from four pets that are nearly finished. Count the copies and read their ages before swapping for another pet.
If you have Age-Up Potions, use them on pets that still need growth. The developer’s potion description says a standard Age-Up Potion gives 30 tasks of age experience. It doesn’t promise to turn any pet from Newborn to Full Grown in one use.
There isn’t one honest time estimate for every Neon. The species’ rarity, existing age progress, available potions and any active bonuses affect the work left. Set your next goal as one Full Grown pet, rather than a deadline for the entire project.
